##trans - Peer Support IRC

Welcome to ##trans (irc.libera.chat) - a laid-back, low moderation space for
trans people and allies to hangout, relax, meet and mutually support each other.

Treat each other kindly and considerately, even if disagreements occur. (We
try to be a safe(r) space.)

 * No discrimination, including generalised statements, on race, sex/gender,
   cis/trans status or harassment.
 * Don't assume genders or pronouns.
 * No abuse or threats of violence/death against anyone for any reason.
 * Don't intentionally mislead, spread deliberate falsehoods, instigate drama or
   spam.
 * Tag all NSFW/NSFL or potentially triggering material. (There's ##transsmut
for smutty rather than medical discussion.)
 * No bots or filesharing services (BitTorrent etc.,)
 * Bear in mind that some conversations may upset others and adjust the topic
   accordingly.
 * Don't joke about (or threaten) forced feminisation/masculinisation/HRT.
 * Respect that time, energy and ability available for helping others is finite.
Earnestly engage with help/advice, don't manipulate others into assisting
you, and try to give back by helping others.
 * Don't impersonate others (real or fictitious) or deceptively use multiple
   nicknames/accounts (e.g., sock puppets, ignore/ban evasion)
 * Respect the privacy of those in channel (for example, no externally available
   logs)
 * Don't abuse the ops/mods. (Please remember we're unpaid volunteers!)

Please note that we are not trained/equipped to help directly and immediately
suicidal people. In this case we would suggest a more specialised service.
Details for several can be found in our Crisis & Emergency resources.

HRT/medication policy:
 * Do not directly link to places to get HRT/medication without a prescription
in channel (this includes lists of sources).
 * Discussion of medications, dosages, effects and blood tests/results is
   allowed.
 * Remember that we do not provide professional medical advice.
 * Educational resources should only be provided to those who you reasonably
believe to be legally competent and able to understand and apply them.
 * Encourage obtaining HRT via official channels where reasonably practical
given resources and location. (The advice of local trans people can be
   invaluable!)
 * Research the medical, financial and legal consequences for yourself.
 * Be cautious in sources, medications, dosages and testing regimes you employ.

Further guidance:
 * Promote a healthy lifestyle amongst users.
 * Some users do not want to be private messaged. Try to ask before doing so.
(Exception: ops/moderators when it's relevant to their roles.)
 * Support should be done in channel. This provides a broader range of opinions
and puts less pressure on any individual.
 * Don't advocate the use of recreational drugs. Education/harm reduction
   discussion is okay.
 * Please do not suggest other channels, servers and/or chat services.
 * We're an international crowd, so try to use non-ambiguous dates and give
units. (Metric/SI and ISO 8601 are preferred.)
 * Please be careful following links or when sharing private information.
 * Avoid using emoji (and things like Unicode mathematics characters) as it
poses accessibility issues, illegibility at typical font sizes, and the
fallback () being prone to misinterpretation.
 * Persistently idle or otherwise non-contributing users/lurkers are subject
   to removal.

If you believe the rules to have been broken or have concerns about the
behaviour/welfare of another user, please message a channel op with a short
summary and the time of the incident (preferably in UTC). Please bear in mind
that the ops may need to discuss the best course of action. You can ask to
remain anonymous (e.g., because the user is also one of the ops).

Please talk to a channel op/moderator (CaptnJack, Helle, kate`, lea, PapaBear
or SkybluepinkBaphy) if you have questions or there is a problem. You can
call for ops, by addressing TransBot and mentioning "ops". For example:
"TransBot: get the ops please"
